The beginning of a new journey at Chimney Hollow Open Space

By: Korrie Johnston, Communications Supervisor

Twenty years in the making, it’s exciting to announce the public input and management planning process for Chimney Hollow Open Space (CHOS) began this month!

Spanning 1,847 acres of natural beauty and directly connected to the new Chimney Hollow Reservoir currently being constructed, CHOS promises to be an outdoor haven for the entire community.

Why I think this is extra exciting and I hope you do too - Now is the start of a journey where every voice in our community can contribute to shaping the open space’s future. This opportunity does not come around very often!

We invite you to be a part of the process, which will be completed in two phases. We are currently in Phase 1 and are actively recruiting input from across the community. Following Phase 1, a Draft Management Plan will be scripted based on community feedback and offered for community review/feedback.

How can you get involved today?

  1. Visit Chimney Hollow Feedback Platform to get informed and stay updated on latest developments.

  2. Take the feedback survey (found on the platform) and join over 200 other community members who have provided input so far.

The outcomes of the public input and management planning process at the end of this year will be a reflection of our community’s values and aspirations. By participating in the process, you can help play a role in shaping the newest Larimer County open space that will offer recreation, protect wildlife habitats and ecology, and provide valuable nature experiences for all.
