The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hosting several programs this year to celebrate National Public Lands Day (NPLD), which culminates on Saturday, September 28 with two public volunteer events.

Our programs are geared to not only celebrate the annual volunteer day, but also highlight the benefits and variety of our programming for all members of our community. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Together for Tomorrow” and will include:

  • LGBTQIA+ Hiking Together: Building Community through Nature - Sept 24

  • Fence Removal Volunteer Project - Sept 25

  • Twilight Walk at Hermit Park Open Space - Sept 25

  • Beginning Birding Hike - Sept 26

  • Public Tour of new open space (Blue Mountain property) - Sept 26

  • Starry Sky Soirees with NoCo Astronomical Society - Sept 27

  • Help Build the Bay to Bay Trail - NPLD event! - Sept 28

  • Litter Clean at Carter Lake - NPLD event! - Sept 28

A Nectar Challenge will be underway as well for any Larimer County staff who volunteers at one of the two NPLD events. For all the details of this year’s events and programs, check out our event calendar.
