When lightening strikes…
By: Hannah Beam, Carter Lake Ranger
Not only do visitors keep us hopping over the summer months, but Mother Nature also participates in keeping us on our toes. Several lightning storms swept through the Carter lake area this summer. These storms left rangers responding to several smoke reports after the lightning strikes.
Rangers responded to two separate lightning strike fires in the Pinewood area, one on June 14 and another, August 2, which was during the same time as the Alexander Mountain Fire response.
Quick action ensured both were successfully extinguished with little to no damage.
